Introducing Fitness Model and Personal Trainer Rika A

Rika is a dedicated fitness professional with over 10 years experience. She specialises in body pump, kettlebell exercises, strength and conditioning, including shoulder exercises and ab workouts. She is also qualified in teaching pre/post natal exercises and can provide a full body workout plan, suitable for the comfort and security of your home home.

What is your background in fitness?

From a young age I was always very active taking part in ballet, gymnastics and tennis. I then started to go to the gym as it helped me to de stress and it gave me a focus where I started competing as a fitness model.  I was still working as a hairdresser at the time but my passion was in fitness and I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. I retrained as a Personal Trainer and haven’t looked back since. I love helping people, not just to look better and get a fitter stronger body, but also to feel more confident and happy within.


Why did you decide to specialise in pre/post natal exercise?

I understand the excitement and also exhaustion that comes from being an expectant mother and then a new mother, the importance of still looking after yourself and taking care of ‘YOU’. Having a baby puts immense strain on you physically and emotionally. Training (in moderation along with good nutrition) helps to release happy endorphins and will give you more energy to look after the little one.

How do you keep on top of your fitness whilst travelling?

When travelling I try stay as active as possible, body weight exercises are great as they can be done anywhere and are so effective. That, along with a healthy balanced diet.


How do you keep yourself motivated?

I personally set small attainable goals to keep myself motivated. There are of course days that I don’t feel like training either, but I like to be a role model and not just speak ‘fitness’, but practice what I preach. You can find inspiration from others, but determination is solely your responsibility.

What’s your favourite fitness brand and why?

I don’t really have a ‘favourite’ fitness brand – I love them all.
