Meet Ben H, one of our top personal trainers. He has taken his love of sports, in particular rugby, and developed a true passion for health and fitness.
What is your biggest client success story?
To pinpoint one success is very hard as each client has inspired me on individually. One that springs to mind comes from one of my very first clients called Earth (believe it or not). When he first came to me he was extremely shy and introverted. He hated exercising on his own and didn’t like being around too many other people. His dream was to look better and play for a school or club sports team. I worked with him for about a year and watched him develop not only aesthetically but his confidence and personality massively flourished. He has since moved away from London but I regularly receive messages from him, he now plays lacrosse for his house at university and regularly trains by himself.
What do you enjoy about being a part of the TruBe Team?
It’s a great network of trainers all working towards the same goal and it’s great to be part of the most exciting on demand app in fitness industry.
What was your last health and fitness obstacle and how did you overcome it?
I had a serious shoulder injury a couple of years ago whilst playing rugby which led to me being out of matches and training as well as having to have an operation. My rehab process consisted of retraining the basic joint motions and movement patterns of the shoulder whilst ensuring I didn’t lose stability, strength and mobility. It is an ongoing process which has come a long way and I’m proud of the advances I have made!
Your favourite piece of TruBe equipment?
Another tough decision as all of the equipment is great. I personally believe the greatest tool we have is our body! If I had to pick one I’d have to say the GripR. I use it to create a stimulus that can overload any movement and you can work pretty much any muscle.
How do you treat yourself?
To treat myself I like to go out to eat somewhere with amazing food and good cocktails. I also relish a rare opportunity to have a lie in and a cup of tea, which in the fitness industry is a very rare opportunity.
What is your favourite instagram account you follow?
My favourite account that I follow at the moment is @bjgaddour who is the fitness director for the men’s health brand.
What is your favourite motivational quote?
I don’t have a favourite quote Per Se but I live by the mantra that you get back what you put in and it applies to all aspects of life.
What is the best piece of advice you have received from a mentor?
Don’t follow the crowd because it’s the accepted norm, do what you love and what makes you happy and you will find success.
How do you find balance in your life?
By making sure I always have something to look forward to and work towards. I always make time to properly see my girlfriend, family and friends so that work does not consume my life.
