Meet two of our fantastic trainers, Vanessa and Kathrin. Vanessa is a pro dancer turned personal trainer who is very into functional training, enjoyable exercise and helping motivate people to achieve their goals. Kathrin specialises in Pilates, Pre/Post Natal, Stretching, and Ballet fit and has experience teaching both children and adults. She loves working with a wide range of clients.
We have asked Vanessa and Kathrin workout and lifestyle inspired questions in a TruBe Q&A.
TruBe: What is your Instagram handle?
TruBe: What is your favourite workout song?
Vanessa: I’m really into mixing up my workout music to keep it fresh – something with a good beat is essential if I’m doing any cardio or strength training – and something that makes you feel good can be hugely motivating (if you’ve got headphones on in the gym it’s totally a great time to whack out those guilty pleasures). I also like to find something relaxing to cool down and stretch too which I think can be equally important. I like to find music that inspires my creativity and then I leave my workout feeling great!
Kathrin: It changes over time and depends on what type of exercise I‘m doing. For example, Your Song by Lady Gaga is good for stretching/ Pilates, while I might go for Finesse by Bruno Mars/ Cardi B for running or cardio.
TruBe: What is your proudest achievement?
Vanessa: I’m not sure if I’ve got a stand out one – it’s all about the long journey and constantly setting mini goals that you can continue to grow towards then feel great about achieving.
Kathrin: Coming to London and setting up a profitable freelance career within 6 months!
TruBe: Favourite workout tip?
Vanessa: I have three favourites: 1: Pick a workout style you ENJOY! It’s far more sustainable. If you hate running, that’s ok – try dance-based cardio or a sport you can play instead. If you hate working with weights, look at effective body weight training. There’s always something that you’ll find that’s more fun for you. 2: Be Patient – brilliance doesn’t happen overnight but if you constantly chip away you can be amazed at what you can achieve. This is also very important for injury prevention and recovery. And finally, 3: find your motivation. For me, taking up aerial was a big one. The stronger I get, the more exciting moves I can master and that’s better motivation for me than ‘looking good in a dress.’ But that’s me and if you’ve just spent loads of money on a ball gown and you really want to look and feel great in it, use that as your motivation. But remember to find a way to continue wanting to look and feel great post the dress wearing event. Being fitter and stronger should make you feel better, not just look better.
Kathrin: Consistency is the key to success. Find workouts you’ll be motivated to do, and do them at least 2-3 times a week!
TruBe: Favourite post workout snacks?
Vanessa: I love berries, nuts and seeds – I’m a real rabbit at heart.
Kathrin: Not really a snack, but I love Kombucha. It‘s so healthy, and incredibly tasty.
TruBe: Favourite travel destination?
Vanessa: Somewhere I’ve not been before!
Kathrin: New York, as I used to live there and still have a lot of friends to visit. It‘s a great place to be with many amazing opportunities.
TruBe: Favourite thing about TruBe?
Vanessa: Besides my lovely clients, I love the flexibility TruBe offers and the fact that it keeps my days so varied and exciting (Or the fact that the team that run it are 100% awesome and just lovely human beings).
Kathrin: I really enjoy meeting the different clients and getting to be a small part of their often busy lives. There is quite a range of people who use the app, which makes the job very interesting.
